Sun Gun God is an autobiographical feature-film project inspired by Richard Ticho's experiences in Israel during the period leading up to and following the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
Approaching 30, a peace-loving American returns to Israel to support Rabin's pursuit of peace.
Working with Israeli Broadcasting Authority news crews and alongside international news organizations, he becomes the man carrying the portable television light known as a sun gun. His job is to illuminate the people standing before the camera. Around him, the country is moving toward darkness.
Richard witnesses political division, demonstrations, religious conflict, inflammatory imagery, the machinery of international news, and the atmosphere surrounding Rabin's assassination.
He is later drafted into the Israeli military and assigned as a guard near Ramallah, placing a man committed to peace inside the machinery of a conflict he is still struggling to understand.
This project is in development and remains centered on Richard Ticho's lived experience and the questions the story raises.
